He’s not of draftable age

feministdad2.jpgThis is a photo my son took of my dad wearing his “This is what a FEMINIST looks like” t-shirt at a rally protesting President Bush’s visit to SLC. I’ve been reading an interesting discussion at Feminism 101 about whether or not men can claim the word “feminist.”

I’d never given it a second thought until I read the post. My dad requested this t-shirt from me, and wears it to pool halls as well as political rallies. He laughs that he’s been asked, in pool halls, if he’s gay when he’s wearing the shirt. Sheesh.

The reason my son had the camera at the rally was to have Grandpa capture photos of him for his conscientious objector scrapbook. You can probably guess that there were exactly ZERO photos of my son, the teenager. He forgot to mention it to Grandpa. But we’ve got Grandpa covered.

Good thing I have those pics of him dressing up in flowing dresses and big floppy hats when he was about eight.

Alarming, would you be willing to have that photo illustrating the “can a man be a feminist?” FAQ post?

I think that picture would be fabulous after the first paragraph and before we get to the “some feminists say not” bits.

I’m sure my dad would be delighted. Go right ahead.

I’ll bet he’s a cutie in that shirt, especially paired with a kilt and green mohawk! *rawr*
