This is the most brilliant pattern–it’s fun to knit and it’s just beautiful. It’s based on Hello Yarn’s Irish Hiking Scarf, yet it’s been revised so that the cables are reversible and the scarf looks the same on both sides.
The secret to this magical pattern is the K2, P2 construction throughout. Kudos to Hello Yarn + Come to Silver for this truly charming pattern.
Edited to add pattern details:
I used Knit Picks Panache (40% baby alpaca, 20% cashmere, 20% silk, 20% extrafine merino) in Slate (which they apparently don’t make anymore–? It is in their catalog, but I couldn’t find it online).
The scarf measures 4.5 inches wide by 6 feet long. I used almost exactly 6 balls (I had less than 24 inches left); each 50 gram ball has 68 yards.

It’s beautiful. And I love a good palindrome. It’s partly why I named my daughter Hannah.
