blogless Debbie, The Knitty Professor, and Alison at the Silver Fork Lodge

We held our first annual SLC-SNB knitting retreat this weekend at–where else?–the Silver Fork Lodge.
This is what the canyon looked like as I made my way up on Friday night about 8 pm. That full moon was so bright that when I got out of my car I cast a full, well defined shadow as I made my way across the parking lot. It was amazing.
Of course, then I didn’t take my camera out for two days. Bleh.
I do wish I would have started taking photos a little sooner, so I could have captured a pic or two of blogless Chris, Cabled Sheep, knitferbrainz, Katherine of it All, I’m Knitting As Fast as I Can, and MimKnits, but what can I say? I’m slow.
On Friday night six of us (me, Bonnie, Michaele, Eileen, Cheryl, and Chris) occupied the Silver Fork bed and breakfast accommodations, with a somewhat different group on Saturday night (me, Alison, Michaele, Eileen, and Debbie) but really the whole weekend we spent most of our time in the lounge–knitting, spinning, eating, drinking, dozing, laughing, and, of course, bitching.

Too bad for those other guests who might have wanted to hang out or watch TV–we were, I suspect, far too intimidating.
Not that there wasn’t beautiful scenery to take in, or trails to explore, or clear blue skies to enjoy, but what we found we really craved was some veg time with the grrlfriends. It was bliss.

Saturday morning Katherine and Susan joined us for breakfast, and I caught a quick spinning lesson with Susan, but by afternoon our ranks had thinned until Debbie, Mim, and Alison showed up later on Saturday.
I did get a bit of knitting done, actually–some progress on the Soft Swirl sock; I’m nearly ready to start the toe.
Sunday afternoon we checked out of our rooms but then sat around and knit some more, laughed together at VH-1’s “I Love the Seventies” and discussed the degrees of emotional manipulation evident in an episode of Animal Planet. It was awesome and exactly what I needed. Nearly perfect, in fact.*![]()
And if that wasn’t enough fun for one day, when Michaele and I left we went directly to IKEA for a little bit of Sweden. Our only disappointment was that they were out of gnome-inspired gift bags. Denied!
I cannot wait for next year. Or maybe a spring retreat?
*Margene ~ we missed you, friend. I hope you’re feeling better soon.
