I don't know what the Radar thread is (will I find out? not sure if I want to yet) but I thought this innocent little thread about living in Seattle was gonna get kicked off to the "hot" section.

Brought it up with Mr Cranky last night and he found it strange that we'd get into such a debate--his BikeForums.net people only ever yell at each other about looking dumb on their bicycles, or some such--but it seems like the ladies *like* to get all riled up online. But heck, I am a lady (um, not by all definitions, as previously discussed) so my experience tends to be with the female-oriented boards (Ravelry, Get Crafty, LJ's knitting community).

I used to get into arguments with people online but it wasn't really fun for me, even when I had the spare time for it. Now I just like to share my opinion... and do I care how others feel about it? Not really, though I do appreciate actual discussion.

Oh yeah, that thread: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/sheepless-in-seattle/99607/

I've no problem with the Lazy, Stupid & Godless group itself - I find that quite amusing. It's just that one thread. I guess I just found the whole idea of it a bit juvenile, even though I understand why it was done. And again, I have no sympathy for the holier-than-thou crowd it's aimed at, nor does the content bother me personally.

But I'm probably more sensitive to the issue than most, since I've had to deal with it as an administrator, and I know that sometimes it escalates to the point where normally tolerant people start getting pissed off, and things get really ugly. Trust me, I've been there. My concern was more for Ravelry in general, and Casey in particular.

I rarely read any groups, and have only looked at the Radar a couple of times - I didn't realize that Casey had already put a 'mature content' filter on it (which is on by default). With that in mind, I guess it's no big deal anyway.
