Think Spring from Spunky Eclectic, handspun by ME!
425 yards of two-ply/18 wpi
I managed over 850 yards of singles from the four ounces of fiber; that’s the finest yarn I’ve ever spun. There is certainly a lot of room for improvement (I know where the goofs are, of course) but I’m exceeding pleased with myself. Miss Selkie and I are getting along just fine.
Here are the singles on the bobbin; I’m spinning on the largest whorl on the second to largest groove which means I have to be careful not to underspin but I don’t have to worry so much about overspinning. Sorry about not knowing the ratios but, as I’ve often admitted, I’m a n00b.
And the predrafted top–two of the four ounces–ready to spin. Each little cloud is a very narrow strip about as predrafted as it can get so I can spin it fine enough to make a two-ply sock yarn. The incandescent light in this photo gives the fiber a yellow cast which isn’t quite true.
The top as it came in the February 2008 Spunky Club offering. The fiber is African Fine wool handpainted pale yellow and pink with a touch of gray.
