Hard drive failure: The good, the bad, and the fugly

james-inked2.jpg

Or, “Not how I wanted to spend my Saturday”

THE GOOD

  • The new hard drive was covered under warranty
  • Files were backed up to an external hard drive

THE BAD

  • The last backup was February 23
  • How well the backup worked remains to be seen
  • Nothing was retrievable from the original hard drive

THE FUGLY

  • The images from Open Mic were lost, save for the video and the one photo I posted last time (because the video was on YouTube and I’d emailed the photo to Cade’s mom)

Without my laptop, I felt adrift. I consoled myself with my iPod. Unfortunately, it also crashed, at about 8:00 p.m. What are the odds that both my laptop and my iPod could crash on the same day?

And then it snowed about a foot. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The sun’ll come out, tomorrow—gawd I hope so

Today’s photo: James, about two years old, after he found a bottle of red ink and decided to investigate. When I discovered his adventure I scooped him up and put him directly in the bathtub. Then I was faced with a choice: get annoyed or get the camera. I got the camera. Today he says this photo commemorates his “first knife fight.” Because he’s such a tough guy, ya know. (I picked it because I needed a frowny face to go with my frustrating day. Pictures of James three days in a row–shameless.)

I think having the ipod crap out too tips this one over from wailing/gnashing of teeth into rending clothing. That really sucks.
The picture of James is awesome though. I took the same one of Monkey a while ago, only covered in lipstick.

Oh crap - how awful! Let’s hope that things look brighter today. But anyway, it’s a fantastic photo of James! I’m sure that pretty much sums up how you felt.

And snow, too! The icing on a crap cake.

I hope everything can be recovered and the sun really DOES shine for you tomorrow.

Your post makes me think of these lyrics…’if it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all…’. Hope the sun has been shining the past few days- when is spring break and what exciting adventures do you have planned?
