Coconut, Palm, and Palm Kernel Oils
Fixed oils used in cold-process soapmaking

These are some of the ingredients with which I make soap.  These oils are called “fixed” because they aren’t volatile or prone to evaporation, like essential oils. Essential oils are volatile in that they begin to evaporate within moments once exposed to air.

The oils you see in the bowl are coconut, palm, and palm kernel. I also use olive oil and shea butter, and occasionally lanolin.

If mixing up a batch of soap (and playing with sodium hydroxide, also known as LYE) isn’t your idea of a good time, you can just buy some of my soap here.
