Cool stuff

So, it was my birthday a week ago, and Margene gave me this–

Truly, I didn’t know I needed this. But Margene did. My wheel came with an orifice hook, which I was forever trying to balance on the arm of the sofa so that it would be within easy reach when I needed it every other minute while trying to learn to spin (still trying). This gorgeous baby, by Chiwawa, has a cord to hang it from the wheel. Ingenious and beautiful. Form follows function.

Warren and I share the same birthday, and exchanged handmade gifts. Poor guy got a bar of soap :S while I made off with some real treasures.

Warren makes these cool tools. On the left are needle holders that our LYS sells. I’ve used them for years after Steph gave me one but didn’t know until recently that Warren made them. On the right you can see the needle holder in action (in a slightly bigger size) and the knitting bag he made. It zips around and there’s a slit in the top to pull yarn through. Perfect for my trip to New York (did I mention I was going to NYC tomorrow on vacation? Wahoo!) Handy guy to have around, that Warren—a true Renaissance man who holds his own at S’nB.

William, my ever practical son, took a book directly off my wish list and ordered it for me. Check it out!

I’m practically hopping from foot to foot in anticipation. Can’t wait!

James, my ever comedic son, ordered this t-shirt for me from NerdyShirts. Goofily nerdy? Perhaps, but I wear it in all sincerity. (It was also coincidentally appropriate to wear to the Pride Parade.)

And just in time for my birthday, ShoeDawg had a HUGE SALE on Sanita clogs (like I need an excuse to order more Sanitas). The birthday girl ordered herself THREE PAIR, which normally would have been pushing the $400 range. You’ll never guess the awesome deal I got on these—

Ready? Drum roll. . . . .$29.90 each. Srsly.

Get on my feet, new shoes, because I’m doing a happy dance!

One more from NerdyShirts. Love it! I might have to order this one for myself.

/conspicuous consumption description (but mostly handmade, crafty stuff!)

    Hey Laurie,
Sounds like you are doing well. Hope your trip to NYC is great. I’m doing ok, in spite of the fact that I lost my job last friday. Seriously. But I’ll be ok. Just checking out everybody’s blogs…
