Hemlock Satisfaction

Hemlock Ring Blanket

This was a really satisfying project.  Once you get into the feather and fan pattern, every fifth row is a pattern row, and the rest is straight knitting.  So once in awhile things would change up a bit, but most of the time it’s just movie knitting.  Great for vacation, too.  I started this in Oregon and finished it in Torrey, Utah, at the Women’s Music Festival.

The pattern is adapted from an old doily pattern, with a partial chart by Jared Flood of Brooklyn TweedThe Rainey Sisters packaged Brooklyn Tweed’s chart along with some photos and errata and posted it here.

I did nothing original to this pattern, even down to choosing the same colorway of yarn. The neutral taupe-y brown just seemed perfect to me, and I love it. I did the Rainey Sisters crochet bind-off which is far less complicated, but if I’d had the photo of the knitted edging with me I might have done that instead, because it’s just beautiful, too. I knit to the end of the chart (row 70) rather than stopping at row 55, and might have even been able to get another repeat in in with the yarn I had left, but I played it safe and decided I didn’t really need it to be bigger.  It’s 60″ in diameter and spanned the width of my queen-sized bed.
