Call me shallow, but this still makes me smile.

SLC Stitch ‘n Bitch is a petulant five year old

But we love her dearly.

Yes, five years ago and thanks to Debbie Stoller I birthed this get together and stepped back to watch her grow. Some of my dearest friends are those I’ve met through the Salt Lake City Stitch ‘n Bitch and I feel very blessed by their friendship.

We started a tradition some years back of a swap around the holidays. The past few years it’s been a one-skein swap and this year we swapped on our anniversary. Everyone knows what I’ll bring because I started making these Koigu beaded bags a couple times ago and cannot seem to stop.

Anyone who wants to participate brings a one-skein project in a plain brown bag. The bags get randomly tossed around until everyone who brought one has one. Of course, we’ve got some amazing knitters in our group, so you know something lovely is coming your way. I received ChrisK’s package; a beautiful bread cloth knit from Euroflax linen in my absolute favorite color, aubergine (well, along with sage green):

Beautiful, no? Yes!

And as fate would have it, ChrisK got my Koigu beaded bag:

FO’s of 2008 (with admitted fudging)

This time last year, with a paltry eleven FO’s for 2007, I made the following statement regarding goals for 2008–

I have no knitting goals for 2008. Well, actually, I have one–a combined knitting, spinning, exercise, weight loss, health, decluttering, and everything else goal–to get a goddamn divorce already. That would be nice.

Not only did said divorce (finally) come through, but I also managed to start knitting and spinning again. Even better, I met a terrific guy that is making 2009 even better than I hoped. Lucky, lucky me.

So, with minimum hoopla, I present the FO’s of 2008, in all their glory:
